big city

so exciting in the beginning
the skyline in the evening
against the backdrop of
stars and alcolhol

we would pinch ourselves
work for the weekend
like the other big city
drones, looking for love

I soon discovered love
would be fleeting and
exhausting, not living up
to the big city corporate

expectation of aspiring model
or ever lasting botoxed youth
my epic bad taste in men
blossomed and soon the skyline

faded, big city expenses
overcrowded festivals of
wall to wall people and I
was invisible to most

quirky eccentric are not
acceptable I became weary
of the harsh hurried
never ending rushing masses
